Eight state legislatures have introduced resolutions
declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and 10th amendments to the
U.S. Constitution; they include Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan,
Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington. There's speculation
that they will be joined by Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California,
Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and
Pennsylvania.
You might ask, "Isn't the 10th Amendment that no-good
states' rights amendment that Dixie governors, such as George Wallace
and Orval Faubus, used to thwart school desegregation and black civil
rights?" That's the kind of constitutional disrespect and ignorance
that big-government proponents, whether they're liberals or
conservatives, want you to have. The reason is that they want
Washington to have total control over our lives. The Founders tried to
limit that power with the 10th Amendment, which reads: "The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by
it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the
people." Walter Williams

“Honor, Justice, and humanity, do not let us tamely surrender that freedom which was passed down from our ancestors, and which our children and our children's children have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we selfishly entail hereditary financial and and systemic government bondage on them."
Sounds relevant, right, could have been written today. But I digress, I must confess before I am dragged before congress for plagiarism. It is a paraphrase from Thomas Jefferson. I am saddened today, and it seems more each day as I watch the encroachment, and malfeasance of Government today. It is much our own doing, however. Our election choices, our lack of understanding, education and self direction. We get the Government we vote for. Over 300 congressman voting for unconstitutional punitive tax legislation, without batting an eye, 700 Billion TARP, without reading most or all of it. Pretending that D.C. Is a state. Proposing nationalizing 17% of our economy through health care. Inflating the Dollar to the point China may dump our debt,( they own at least a Trillion already ). Each of these things by themselves are serious enough. Together with many other examples, they can seem overwhelming. I read the founding fathers to gain perspective. These were men of great honor and great sacrifice. They were providentially placed I believe to create this marvelous nation.
Common Sense, Honor, justice, all have been the same for thousands of years. But we seem to be driven lately by our baser instincts. Jealousy, Envy, Greed, uncontrolled by the hand of God. Driving fears and short sighted decisions that feed the beast. Trillions of dollars of debt for a decade, private business owned and controlled by the Government, Laws, regulations, and insider deals driven by this ideology sadden me to the point I wonder were we will be in a few short years. I wonder what we will be handing our children. For unbroken Decades, and even centuries, we have given each new generation a better place, full of promise and freedom. For the first time I am scared that will not happen. I watch American Idol, but I never vote for anyone. Like a spectator, just watching the carnage. Sure, I vote for Congress, President, etc., But it is time to do more. The diffused majority must act, and take back control of a country so great, their has been none other like it. At the risk of doing it again, I heard a great line in a song today. “All I want is everyone's everything”.
Right now, I just want a glimmer of sanity. I want to talk to one other person that thinks, Gee, this looks bad. One other leader that will take a stand, at his own expense I dare say go against the Big Government solution mantra. And maybe even read a bill before voting! tr
"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them."

After yesterday and previous events, 1 Pastor gunned down, 11 in Atlanta, 10 in No Gun Germany, it became clear. There is only one way to protect yourself. And that is, to protect yourself. Guns are here to stay. Anyone disagree? It then become, how do we respond, or better, prepare for that one event that may occur in your lifetime were you say, " I wish I had a gun". It seems if there were a few good men ( and yes women) in every School that were trained to use, and allowed to carry descretely a hand gun it would do two things. One, give these poor fellas at least a fighting chance to save some lives, and two, give anyone thinking of walking in and starting a rampage just a little more to think about. Even if it would save one life, wouldn't it be worth it? I went to a Church 5 blocks from Columbine HS. What we know now is the police stood back and watched, even one of the officers who tried to enter and interdict was pulled out. Inside, there were a few good men who were saying, " I wish I had just one bullet". The very moment the two thugs felt some real resistance, they quit and turned the guns on themselve. If only it were sooner. tr

I think big picture usually. And this in no different. The General Welfare clause in the Constitution was not meant to be a catch all so the Government could do anything they wanted in the name of " the general welfare". what we see now is that to do that at a national level the gov. must necessarily choose winners and losers. It can be no other way. In doing so they are simply saying, " We don't trust you... We don't trust markets.... the people." and so on. When in truth this great country has done nothing but prove that the people, when left alone are the best at making decisions at every level. When the Wright brothers were inventing the airplane for all intents and purposes, there was another attempt being made by the US Gov. Just a day before the first flight they went to congress and said," We are not even close, we need a lot more money". And the Wright brothers, to the betterment of all mankind took flight the next day. On a shoestring. With a motorcycle engine. Out of their garage. So to summarize the big picture....Leave Us Alone!
"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by
money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no
longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite
one, subject to particular exceptions." --James Madison, letter to Edmund Pendleton, 21 January 1792
"With respect to the two words 'general welfare,' I have
always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected
with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a
metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a
host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators." --James Madison

Thought e-mail and response were profound enough to post. This e-mail has been circulating like many do for a year or two.
See if you can guess which organization this is...
36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits, and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is?
NBA Or NFL
?
Give up yet?
Scroll down,
Neither,
it's the 435 members of the
United States Congress
The same group of Idiots that crank out
hundreds of new laws each year
designed to keep the rest of us in line.
Her is the response I thought so appropriate;
"This is
seriously an alarmist prospective. But I wonder, if we were to gather
random multiples of 400 to 500 average Americans... Where would those
groups rank? I guarantee you each group of 400 to 500 would land among
the bankrupt, the accused, the mistake-prone and the guilty.
Did
you know that Donald Trump has closed down over 300 of his own
businesses in his career and has been bankrupt and flat broke more than
27 times? Does this make him incapable and undeserving of his present
status? Absolutely not. Past failure presents the opportunity for
future success. This makes him and others like him the most educated,
understood and driven individuals in the country.
Regarding the
original author of this E-mail, I wonder what we could dig out of your
closet? Your lack of patriotism shows in your unrestrained reference to
our leaders ("Idiots"). These men and women you refer to are
representatives of the greatest country in the world and should be
offered the proper respect therein. Do they make mistakes? Sure they
do, they are human. I would say, anonymous author, that our country
would be better served by writings and information that will encourage
faith and trust in our Republic and not blatantly tear it down.
I
remind you that these men and women were also voted in by YOU and ME,
so to quote your original words, I would ask, "Who's the bigger idiot?"
Just a few thoughts from an average American with average credit and a parking ticket... Not worthy of Congress."
Jeremiah St James
If we are going to be serious and active at restoring our country to what we see as right and put forth hyperbole that is overcooked we simply loose credibility and therefore the power of our stance. Well said, tr

Already we have seen in just a few weeks that President Bush was not nearly as Dumb as he was made to be, and that President Obama is not nearly as smart as He is believed to be. Pelosi has worked him over a wet puppy dog of 6 weeks.

I often look at the days stories and think, what are people missing. In regard to the Gitmo closing and bringing terrorist into our country, they are missing something. A long long time ago we set up this thing called a Constitution. It applied to those who were rightful citizens of this country. We have somehow lost our way, thinking we must apply the Constitution to all who enter. We dare not. When an Alien enters this country we treat Him nice, but He does not deserve nor should he get all the rights we have just by showing up. This demeans and devalues all the sacrifices made to create and preserve this great land, that is most unique. An easy way to to prove this is to look at how the IRS (that is another blog), treats income of Aliens, basicaly, they can tax the crap out of them if they want and there is no recourse. As it should be. They don't have citizenship. A citizen would have recourse, voting, petitioning, using the existing laws to his benifit. This common sense application should apply to other areas as well. An illeagal combatant, has no rights here, period. Whether he is in the country or not should matter not. ACLU be damned! The middle of thier name... Civil Liberties, inferes you should be a citizen, of something, not just the World! tr
